Massachusetts Big Man Looking to Visit Xavier

Jeremy Miller of BABC said Xavier is one of the schools he plans to visit. Read more about his game and recruitment.

In February, 2015 big man Jeremy Miller thought he had found his future college when he committed to Steve Donahue's staff at Boston College. However, a month later Donahue was fired, and he re-opened his recruitment in early May.

Miller says Xavier is one of the schools that's been recruiting him since he opened things back up.

"Since I re-opened my recruitment, I've been hearing from Xavier, Wisconsin, Florida, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Northeastern, Maryland and Boston College," he said.

Over the weekend Miller showed off his unique skill-set at the Nike EYBL session in Hampton, Virginia while playing for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club (B.A.B.C.). At 6-9, 220-pounds, Miller is a stretch big man that brings versatility to a frontcourt rotation. He has the size and length to play the five, with the mobility and skills to play the four. He scored 15 points in a viewing against CIA Bounce on Saturday and had eight in a second look against MeanStreets on Sunday. He was also 3-for-6 from beyond the arc in the three games he played over the weekend.

"Some of the guys that I go against are pretty slow, so I'm able to bring them out," he said. "I'll run off screens, pick and pop, pick and roll… I just like to spread out the defense so my team is harder to guard."

Adding strength is definitely something that will benefit Miller's game going forward, and he understands that's an area that needs improvement.

"My handle and my strength," Miller said about what he's working on most this spring and summer. "I'm also working on being mentally tougher."

He's played in 11 games for BABC so far this spring, averaging 8.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. He's also 10-for-31 (32%) from beyond the arc.

June will be a big month for Miller's recruitment, as he plans to make multiple visits.

"I'm scheduled to visit Florida in June for an official," he said. "I'm still working something out with the coaches at Xavier for June, and I'll probably visit Georgia Tech as well."

As for what Miller's looking for in his future school, he doesn't have too many prerequisites, but academics are important to him.

"I'm more interested in the academic part than the basketball part," he said. "I don't really care about location or public versus private or the size of it. As long as it's a good academic school and has a good basketball program, it's alright with me."
