Richards makes his pick

Kamall Richards

Three-star wing Kamall Richards has made his commitment and he will head to the Midwest for college.

After a very strong summer on the AAU circuit Kamall Richards stock really began to rise. He continued his strong play during workouts at South Kent (Conn.) School, and now the 6-foot-5 wing has a decision.

Ultimately the choice came down to Atlantic 10 powers Xavier or St. Joe's, and the Musketeers won out for Richards. Richards made a visit to Xavier for their Musketeer Madness event and that trip seemed to seal the deal for the commitment.

"Kamall has a toughness and a competitive desire to be great," said South Kent coach Kelvin Jefferson. "He will bring Xavier an ability to score and rebound from the guard position."

Jefferson continued, "Chris Mack has an ability to get the most out of his players and I know this is the right situation for Kamall and his future."

Last high school year Richards one of the more productive players for the loaded Newark (NJ) St. Benedcit's, and since then he has really worked on improving his perimeter game. Now Richards uses his toughness to rebound and finish in the lane and his skill to make outside jumpers.

By picking Xavier, Richards becomes the first member of the Musketeers 2013 class, and fills a major need on the wing.
