Xavier in Early on Ohio Guard

AJ Harris was one of the top performers at John Lucas' camp in Louisville last weekend. Find out where Xavier stands in the Ohio PG's recruitment.

One of the players with Xavier interest that had a great showing at the John Lucas camp in Louisville last Saturday was 2015 Ohio point guard A.J. Harris.

The diminutive floor general showed off his exceptional quickness and play-making ability by blowing by defenders off the bounce on a consistent basis both in drills and during game action.

Though Harris is short, he is strong with the ball and mature with his decision-making as he showed by finding open teammates on the regular with some flashy passes. He has a tight handle, and despite playing at a break-neck pace, he rarely gets out of control or turns it over.

Defensively, Harris has his limitations due to his lack of size, but he makes the most of his ability, using his quickness and effort to pester opposing ballhandlers and force them into turnovers. In this sense, he's similar to current Xavier guard Dee Davis, though even smaller.

Harris is getting looks from some high-major programs already, in addition to receiving plenty of love from the local schools. Xavier, Dayton, Indiana, Michigan, Indiana State, Ohio, West Virginia, Wisconsin and others have shown interest, according to Harris, with Dayton already having offered.

The Musketeers have done a good job of establishing themselves early in his recruitment.

"I like Xavier. I have a good relationship with Coach Steele," Harris said. "I had a good unofficial visit up there three weeks ago."

Harris said he has other plans on Saturday night when Musketeer Madness is taking place, but he's already been up to see Xavier multiple times, including a recent visit.

"I'm going to Michigan for a visit on the day of Musketeer Madness, but I was just at Xavier for an unofficial visit like three weeks ago and I'll be back down there soon in the next couple of weeks probably."

Though Harris still has plenty of time left before he'd need to make a decision as a member of the 2015 class, this fun to watch Ohio point guard is definitely one to keep an eye on over the next few years as a Xavier fan.
